For new applicants:
1. Online Application
Submit an online application using the Providence College Employment Website: careers.providence.edu
2. Informational Meeting/Screening Interview
The Program Coordinator will review your application and contact you directly to ask you about your interests, schedule, and anticipated level of commitment in the program. The Coordinator will then recommend the student to a CWS partner site that aligns with the student’s interests, availability, skills, transportation needs, and goals. If applying while classes are in session, this meeting is done in person. If applying during winter break or summer break, this will be conducted over the phone.
3. Applications Sent to Supervisors
Based on the screening interview, the Program Coordinator will forward cover letters and resumes to up to three sites that appear to be a good fit with the student. The Program Coordinator will notify students when their resumes and cover letters are sent.
4. Site Interview
Hiring for a specific position is up to the Community Partner Site. They are sent resumes and cover letters by the Program Coordinator, and the site will determine whether or not to interview and/or hire a student.
5. Training & Employment Paperwork:
Hired students must attend a Community Work-Study training in the Feinstein Institute. This training involves important payroll and financial aid paperwork and goes over vital information on the program. Students should reach out to the Program Coordinator directly to schedule a training time. There will also be trainings scheduled to take place during the first couple of weeks of the fall semester.
*NOTE: Students may not start work until they attend the mandatory training AND submit required paperwork
