- Main duties: The Play Guide is primarily responsible for facilitating play and positive learning experiences in the Museum’s exhibits and programs. They act as greeters, play facilitators, and safety monitors.
- Interacting with children and their caregivers to encourage play and exploration
- Responding appropriately to a variety of visitor learning styles
- Using exhibit content in an effective manner to stimulate individual learning
- Keeping exhibits functioning and welcoming throughout the day
- Speaking knowledgeably about the Museum and its programs and functions
- Enforcing Museum rules
- Assisting Experience Coordinators as needed with greeting groups, setting up and leading programs, and other tasks as assigned
- Approximate # of Hours/Week: at least 6 hours/week; up to 20 hours/week
- Required days/times of the week (if any): Flexible shifts during Museum hours: Monday-Sunday 9:00 AM - 5:00PM

Development Intern

- Main duties: Assists Development Department in stewardship and donor tracking by:
- Helping to maintain donor database accuracy and integrity by entering new data correctly and systematically updating various data fields as assigned
- Making packets for prospective donors
- Researching potential new corporate donors/sponsors
- Identifying potential new in-kind donors
- Soliciting, recording and acknowledging in-kind contributions and sponsorship
- Maintaining files for annual campaign, special events and in-kind donations
- Assisting with event set-up and event execution of annual Gala and other events as necessary
- Printing/organizing annual campaign and special event solicitation letters for mailings
- Pick up of items/errands within Rhode Island
- Providing additional assistance to the Events Manager and Development department as needed
- Skills needed:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with or ability to learn FileMaker
- Strong organizational, verbal and written skills
- Capable of easily switching back and forth between assigned tasks
- Able to take direction; capable and willing to take initiative and work with others
- Dependable, reliable and able to work independently
- Flexible and creative
- Excellent attention to detail
- Pleasant, professional phone manner
- Sense of humor
- Approximate # of Hours/Week: 3- 8 hours/week for at least 3 months
- Required days/times of the week (if any): Flexible scheduling during museum office hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Membership Assistant

The student will assist the Associate Director and Membership and Marketing Coordinator to support communications and marketing efforts to increase awareness and support of the Museum.
- Main duties:
- Track and analyze member retention
- Sort, track, and analyze and report on library pass usage and coupons using Microsoft Excel
- Record membership inquiry activity, sort and file membership inquiries
- Assist with mailing
- Schedule membership emails via Constant Contact
- Approximate # of Hours/Week: 10 hours/week, 3 month commitment
- Required days/times of the week (if any): flexible weekday schedules available, within Museum hours (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM), possible night and/or weekend commitment needed for Museum-related events where PR/Marketing is necessary.
